Dr. Todd Smith

Dr. Smith came to Starkville in 2002 after completing training at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. In 2003, he and Mary Smith, CNP, started Starkville Orthopedic Clinic. Dr. Smith received his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi and his medical school degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. In addition to being board certified in general orthopedics, he obtained board certification in sports medicine in 2009. Dr. Smith has a practice focused in arthroscopy and sports medicine but treats general orthopedic conditions as well.

Mary Atkinson Smith, FNP

Mary Atkinson Smith, FNP, has over 18 years of experience in the nursing profession, with 14 years as a board certified nurse practitioner. She is also certified as an orthopedic nurse practitioner and has obtained the certified nurse operating room credential, in addition to formal training as a first assistant in surgery. Smith has first-hand experience in health care innovation and coordination of care stemming from the experience of starting her own house call program for the homebound elderly and disabled residing in the rural areas of the Golden Triangle. She is currently pursuing a post-master’s nursing certificate in rural case management from the University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing in Tuscaloosa, AL where she is also an adjunct nursing faculty member. Smith also serves as a consultant for writing quality improvement health care reports. She is an active member of various nursing and health care related organizations and has successfully published in an array of national nursing journals and a nursing textbook. Smith is a member of the Mississippi Nurses Foundation Board of Trustees and has been recently selected to be a Mississippi Rural Health Association board member beginning in January 2014. Smith has attended the prestigious Nurse in Washington Internship and was awarded the only national scholarship funded by The Alliance to attend this internship, in addition to receiving the Betty Dickson Policy Scholarship on a state level from the Mississippi Nurses Foundation. Smith obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Mississippi University for Women, Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Mississippi School of Nursing, and Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Mamie M. Kosko, CFNP

Mamie M. Kosko, CFNP, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2005 and her Master of Science in Nursing degree in 2011, both from Mississippi University for Women. She is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a family nurse practitioner. Along with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, she is member of the Mississippi Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society. Mamie joined Starkville Orthopedic Clinic in August 2013 and works closely with Dr. Smith to ensure her patients receive exceptional orthopedic care.
